Welcome back to our Before Friday Features section! Every couple of weeks we are going to feature awesome women from around the country and ask them their secrets to looking fly and tackling the workweek.
We’re staying local in NYC to talk to Nisha, a badass babe who does business development and investor relations for a fund.
Why New York City?
Aside from the fact that I grew up in the suburbs of the city, NYC has amazing energy and is full of ambitious people. There are always new experiences to take advantage of, and no shortage of great places to eat/drink/shop, either!
What is your personal power suit (the outfit that makes you feel like kicking ass and taking names)?
When I have an important meeting, I usually feel best in a dress (I have been loving Theory fit and flare dresses lately) with a blazer and heels.
Do you have any tricks for making an outfit day-to-night?
Adding fun jewelry, such as a statement necklace or a pair of colorful earrings.
What is your commuting trick?
I always wait at the exact same place on the subway platform so that I get off the train at the spot closest to my exit.
What is your least favorite part of the workweek?
Monday morning – I like to settle in and organize my week/check email. Please don’t talk to me before 10am unless it’s to gossip about the weekend!
What is your favorite part of the workweek?
This would be a tossup between having a really successful meeting and heading out the door to happy hour on Friday evening!
What do you always have on hand in your kitchen?
Does wine count as a food group? If not, my answer is cheese.
What is the one ingredient/kitchen tool you are afraid of?
Knives. I have seen way too many people slit their fingers open while chopping. Seamless.com, please.
What is your favorite workout when you are pinched for time?
I’m a big fan of the 45 min classes at Equinox, especially Tabata. If I only have 10-15 mins, I like doing a quick circuit of sit-ups, push-ups, squats, and planks.
What do you use as a gym bag?
I recently discovered a brand called Andi, and I love it. The bag is spacious, stylish, and can fold into a bunch of different shapes depending on whether you’re using it for the gym, a hike, etc.
Thanks so much, Nisha! We loved hearing your take on the workweek!
